Gastro outbreak: People vent ire on health officials

Residents of Ramdev nagar society at Ajwa road on Sunday took out their wrath on the medical officers in the area following an outbreak of gastroentritis cases in the past three days.

Residents of Ramdev nagar society at Ajwa road on Sunday took out their wrath on the medical officers in the area following an outbreak of gastroentritis cases in the past three days. Over 28 gastroenteritis cases have been reported so far.

The residents also dared the medical officers to drink the contaminated water.

Daya Parmar,a resident of Ramdev nagar said: “So many cases are being reported from the area,but the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is yet to repair the lines. Some angry residents today apprised the officials of the situation and also asked if the officers dared to drink water from this area,which we have been consuming for so long now.” On Sunday the medical teams checked over 1,200 people at Ramdev nagar and at five neighbouring residential societies.

“We have identified seven more cases of diarrhoea and vomiting,but no one has been admitted. Some of the patients earlier admitted have now been discharged. I am unaware about the brawl,” said Dilip Asari,Medical Officer,Health,VMC.
