As Sonakshi Sinha walks in through the glass doors of Gloria Jeans, the coffee shop on Turner Road,Mumbai, everyone around gives her a second glance. No,it is not because of the white-rimmed Dolce & Gabbana glares she is sporting. The daughter of Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha is striking even if she is in easygoing denims,a red-and-white striped tee and flip-flops.

“I worked very hard over the past year to shed some kilos. I worked out twice a day and at times literally pushed myself out of the house and to the gym,” says Sinha,22,who has started shooting for her first film,Dabangg. It is Arbaaz Khan’s debut production. “It has a great script, great director and an awesome co-star in Salman Khan,” says Sinha,“With Salman around,it’s been a party on the sets. I am enjoying every minute of it.” Incidentally,it was Salman, their family friend for many years who had insisted on her shedding the extra kilos. “He told me that the day I become thin,he would work with me. I am glad he kept his promise,” says Sinha who plays a village belle in the film.

At home, too, everyone is full of advice. “I get advised by my dad,mom and even my brothers. Films are a favourite topic at the dining table. But I don’t really mind it,” she says.
