Former Congress minister and MLA GS Bali today took the Himachal government to task for making contradictory statements on the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjes position in the ongoing probe over the seizure of unaccounted foreign currency from his monastery.

Bali said the state government was confusing investigating agencies,who ought to be allowed to do their job impartially and fearlessly.

Addressing a press conference in Kangra,Bali said it was strange that Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu on Friday chose to give a clean chit to the Karmapa even as investigations were still on,but it was stranger still that the chief minister completely overturned the governments position in less than 15 hours.

Doesnt the government feel ashamed for the goof-up as it has tried to treat such a sensitive issue so casually? Bali said.
