  • Truckers strike
Truckers take sit around bonfire due to nationwide strike, called by the All India Motor Transport Congress, in Patna.

The Government on Monday threatened to cancel permits of truckers who have gone on a strike and separately asked the states to ensure supply of essential commodities to the public.

Accusing the transporters of shifting their stance and terming their wish-list as "unreasonable and unfair," Transport Secretary Brahm Dutt told reporters here that "if the strike continues, law of the land will take its course. Permits of the trucks can be cancelled."

"To meet the situation arising out of the strike, state governments have been asked to prepare an action plan to ensure that comman man does not suffer."

Why can't govt cut down their huge taxes on the Fuel ???By: Sreekanth Setty | 06-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Why can't the govt take the action of cutting down their taxes on the fuel ??? There was an article saying that 1 liter of petrol is less than the price of a 1 liter bottled water. And all the amount above them is the taxes govt is collecting from us. Which in turn every thing we purchase is indirectly being taxed by this fuel rates. How hopless we are with this unethical govt policies.
