Senior BJP leader L K Advani said here on Friday that corruption in the country had reached unprecedented levels and the buck no longer stops at the Prime Ministers Office.
He said he had admired Prime Minister Manmohan Singh until he assumed that post. If there is corruption,it is because the PM does not have the last word. The best economist will not be able to manage inflation if such a high rate of corruption continues, he told a rally at Kora Kendra grounds in suburban Mumbai on Friday evening.
Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and RPI leader Ramdas Athavale were among the leaders who attended the rally.
Advani said India was being maligned as a corrupt nation. He said there was an estimated Rs 25 lakh crore black money stashed in Swiss bank accounts. This money should be invested in Indian villages, he said.
A theme song titled Ab Bas was released at the function.
Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray announced his partys support to Advanis leadership and yatra besides urging people to oust the Congress-NCP government. He sought to know why the NCP had not dared to protest against price rise and inflation like Trinamol Congress president Mamata Banerjee. Banerjee has threatened to withdraw support to the Union government if it does not roll back the fuel price hike.
He said it did not matter who the Prime Minister candidate of the saffron alliance is,the question is whether the country has a leader at the moment. There are only two leaders who have vision and can lead people Advani and my father. They are inspirational.
Advani said he had differences with Mamata Banerjee on several issues but
he appreciated her current stand against the fuel
price hike.
