Greater Noida too gets ready for Metro link

In the New Year,Noida will begin work on the extension of the Metro line,which at present culminates at Sector-32.

In the New Year,Noida will begin work on the extension of the Metro line,which at present culminates at Sector-32. The work is expected to begin from the middle of the year and will take the Metro up to Greater Noida.

Announcing the project,CEO and chairman of Noida Authority Mohinder Singh said the process will start in the first week of February. After finalising the request for proposal,the request for qualification will be forwarded to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and other authorities,he added.

“In February,we will forward the request for qualification,after which we will start the tendering process. By June,we expect the project to be awarded to companies successful in the bidding process. By July,the construction of the Metro should start,” Singh said.

The Authority has already prepared a detailed project report. “Officials feel we have done the necessary groundwork to initiate the project. The facilities for the residents should be doled out as soon as possible,” said Singh.

In Phase-II,the Metro network will be extended from Noida City Centre till Boraki railway station in Greater Noida. There will be seven Metro station en route — Sector 49,Sector 50,Sector 52,Expressway,Pari Chowk,Alfa Commercial Belt and Knowledge Park-IV near Wipro company.

Officials believe the Metro extension,connecting Noida to Vaishali in Ghaziabad would also begin next year.

“In Phase-II,the Metro network will be extended to Sector 62 and will connect Ghaziabad to Noida. We are in conversation with the Ghaziabad Development Authority on the extension,” Singh said.
