The last time Gyanendra came to India, he did not have any travel documents apart from his driver’s licence. But this time, he will travel on a diplomatic passport when he comes to India to attend a wedding. On December 6, Gyanendra and his wife Komal will attend a Mayurbhanj royal family wedding in Orissa.
An aide to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal personally delivered the passport at Nirmal Niwas, Gyanendra’s residence, last week.
A senior minister is believed to have told the Prime Minister that not granting a passport to Gyanendra would project the government as ‘intolerant’.
Unconfirmed reports state that Gyanendra is likely to visit Delhi after the wedding.
