HC sends notice to Haryana chief secy

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued show-cause notices to Urvashi Gulati,Chief Secretary,Haryana and Deputy Commissioner,Panchkula,on account of non-compliance of the court directions. The show-cause contempt notices have been issued on a contempt petition filed by Shamsher Singh,a resident of Panchkula. The petitioner has contended that on April 29,2008,Justice Surya Kant of the High Court had directed the Haryana administration to remove illegal encroachments in Raila village in Panchkula. The directions were passed on a petition demanding the removal of encroachments from the land of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). Justice Surya Kant had also directed the authorities to demarcate area and take action against those guilty of encroaching the area. The petitioner,Shamsher SIngh today contended that till date no encroachment has been removed by the authorities and no action has been taken against the guilty. The contempt notices were issued by Justice Hemant Gupta.
