Haryana to subsidise centres of excellence

Haryana Chief Minister,Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the state government would give 15 per cent subsidy,in addition to 75 per cent by the Central Government,to set up Centres of Excellence on the pattern of Centre of Excellence for Vegetables established with the cooperation of Israel at Gharounda in district Karnal.

The Chief Minister,who was addressing a press conference here today after leading a high level delegation to Israel,said 12 more such centres for vegetables and fruits would be set up in the State and each such centre costs Rs 25 lakh.

He said that as a result of subsidy to be given by the Central and State Governments,the farmer would have to invest only 10 per cent of the total cost.

He said that one such centre for fruits was being set up at Sirsa and another for flowers would come up at CCS,Haryana Agricultural University,Hisar. The proposed centres would be set up by progressive farmers. Israeli technologies would be replicated. Hooda said that Israel has acceded to the state government’s request to send experts to Haryana on continuous basis so that there is no gap in transfer of technologies.

He added that Orit Noked,Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Israel would shortly visit Haryana for a meeting.
