Ludhiana, September 17: The Health department today confirmed two more cases of dengue thereby taking the number of confirmed cases to 19. On the other hand, many patients of the suspected disease are undergoing treatment at differehospitals across the city.

Dayanand Medical College and Hospital has registered over 100 suspected patients of dengue in the monsoons with half of them being the residents of the city. The hospital reported about six more cases of suspected dengue today.

Meanwhile, Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) did not report any fresh case today. CMCH has already registered 48 suspected patients of dengue from the district on the basis of positive IGM report.

In a statement issued here by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) today, it said that the about 235 cases that have been reported in the different city hospitals so far is alarming and therefore asked the civic authorities to take up the mosquitocidal spray actively. "Such sprays are essential to prevent the rise in the number of cases of dengue and malaria," the statement said. The association also asked the residents and specially the children, to wear full length sleeves and socks and cover all the exposed parts of the body to keep mosquito at bay.
