  • A woman, whose “murder” has put her husband and in-laws behind bars, has been found alive.

Pinki, whose ‘body’ was discovered in Beniganj police circle, Hardoi, was learnt to be living in Adarsh Nagar, Shahjahanpur. The police finally caught up with her in the Shahjahanpur railway station on Thursday.

On Friday, she was produced before the district judge, who recorded her statement. The recoding will continue on Monday. The police, embarrassed, now say they will reinvestigate the case. SP Shahjahanpur, K Ejilear Assane, said: “Papers are being prepared to release the persons who are behind bars.”

Back in August, the case was investigated by Hardoi’s then Circle Officer AP Singh. The body was identified by Pinki’s mother Laxmi Devi. The woman had been strangulated.

Her daughter, Laxmi Devi had said, had been missing for four days. And since she had been married for seven years, her husband Dharmendra, his brother Mahesh, their parents Maikoo and Kanti and three other relatives were promptly booked under a dowry case.

Singh sent a report with all the “evidence”, including the victim’s dress, to Shahjahanpur. The then Shahjahanpur’s Circle Officer Ajay Pratap, who further investigated the matter, arrested the seven accused. In November, the three relatives got bail, but Dharmendra, Mahesh and their parents are still in jail.

On Thursday, Dharmendra’s cousin Rajeev came to know that Pinki was alive and lived in Adarsh Nagar. He went there and after verifying the details, called the local police station.

Shahjahanpur’s Ramchandra Mission police station in-charge Ramendra Singh said: “Before we reached, Pinki escaped from her rented accommodation. Later, we found her at the railway station”. Circle Officer Rajesh Kumar said they will reinvestigate the case.

Planted Dowry case of PinkiBy: S.P.Sharma | 11-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Police charge sheet in the case like that of " PINKI" of Shahjahanpur, abundently establishes the standard of Police investigation. Such cases lead to the safe inference that the Anti-Dowry Act is misused to harass some of the innocent husband's families. Such cases should be dealt with sternly and exemplary action should be taken against such frivolous investigators, who do not understand the undue hardships faced by the entire family of such husbands as that of Pinki.

Stupid LawsBy: Murthy | 10-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward It shows the clear misuse of laws which are normally created to benefit women. The innocent people who were jailed should be given compensation to the tune of 1 crore. All women organization who were behind this arrest should be derecognized and should pay compensation of at least 10 lakhs.
