ITBP cancels recruitment,system to be reworked

He refuted the statement of Bareilly DM that the ITBP had set up only nine counters to accept applications.

Taking cognizance of the day-long rioting by a mob of job aspirants in Bareilly on Tuesday,and the subsequent deaths of 20 people who fell off roofs of two trains,the Indo-Tibetan Border Police on Thursday,decided to cancel the recruitment drive till a new,orderly system is worked out.

ITBP Director General RK Bhatia told The Indian Express,“We have cancelled this recruitment till a new recruitment system is devised.”

He refuted the statement of Bareilly DM that the ITBP had set up only nine counters to accept applications. “There were 24 counters set up and only 4,000 candidates were inside the campus,” he said.

Meanwhile,UP’s Special DG (Law and Order) Brij Lal said that three separate cases related to the death of an aspirant and mob violence were registered on Wednesday night. An FIR was lodged against 100 unidentified ITBP officials and jawans for allegedly beating Devendra to death.
