A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Chandigarh Administration and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Thursday for implementation of the UID project in the city.
A meeting was held where Director General,UIDAI,Planning Commission,New Delhi,made a presentation to the officers and apprised them of the UID project.
UID would be a number that will make it possible for all residents to easily verify their identity to public and private agencies across the country. Director General informed that there would be no ID cards and the project would be implemented through partners like state governments,registrars etc. Biometric attributes will be used to ensure uniqueness. He further said that device certificate mechanism has been created to ensure quality.
UT Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar apprised the Director General that institutional mechanism is already in the city,thus,there will be no problem in collecting the required data.
Summer camp concludes
Spectrum 2010,a summer camp organised by Ajit Karam Singh International Public School ,Sector 65,concluded on Thursday. A large number of children had enrolled for activities including personality development,dance,lawn tennis,cricket and art and craft. The closing ceremony was an amalgamation of all the activities in form of a show. Certificates of appreciation were given to the children by the Director and Principal Jasmine Kalra.
