Iftikhar Chaudhary in Hyderabad today,to update on 26/11 trial in Pak

He is also expected to have a “pull-aside” meeting with PM Manmohan Singh.

Ahead of the meeting of the Foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan,Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhary is coming to India on Friday to attend the Commonwealth Law Conference in Hyderabad.

Chaudhary, who was at the centre of judicial activism against Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s regime, will meet Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia on the sidelines of the conference. He is also expected to have a “pull-aside” meeting with PM Manmohan Singh.

Chaudhary will give a sense of the judicial process on the Mumbai terror trial in Pakistan’s courts to the Indian leadership. The pace of the trial in Pakistan has often been referred to as “glacial” by Indian officials. The meeting is expected to assuage the concerns expressed by Delhi on the trial in Pakistan’s courts, and set the stage for a “productive meeting” of the Foreign secretaries.
