Cold wave intensifies in state, Keylong coldest at -2oC
SHIMLA:The cold wave prevailing in Himachal after snowfall in the higher reaches last week has intensified, with minimum temperature falling considerably. At -2 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature recorded on Tuesday was in Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti, while Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded -1 degree. In Shimla, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius and maximum at 14.4 degrees. The maximum temperature came down by 3.2 degrees from Monday, while the minimum too dipped by 1 degree. Icy cold winds were experienced across the state throughout the day, with the sky remaining partially cloudy. The meteorological department has forecast cold and dry weather in the lower regions and snowfall at isolated places of the higher reaches.
Man held with charas
KULLU:Ajit Sadana alias Gulshan (64), a resident of New Delhi, was arrested with 700 grams of charas on Tuesday. The arrest was made during a routine check at Bhuntar when he was going to Delhi from Manali in a tourist bus, said Kullu district police chief K K Indoria. A case has been registered.
Accident claims 3 lives
NAHAN:Three people lost their lives when their jeep rolled down a deep gorge near Marighat on the Rajgarh-Nahan road on Monday. While Vinod Kumar and Kamal Singh, residents of Lanamachar, died on the spot, injured Adarsh Sharma of Bagthan village in Sirmour district died at PGI, Chandigarh, where he had been referred to. The driver of the vehicle, Narayan Singh, was undergoing treatment at Baru Saheb Kalgidhar Trust Hospital, where he was stated to be out of danger.
