In the new world

Once Sunny Deol made up his mind to play a teacher in Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Mohalla Assi,he went the whole way to reinvent himself to play the part.

He took his time to ponder over it,but once Sunny Deol made up his mind to play a teacher in Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Mohalla Assi,he went the whole way to reinvent himself to play the part. The film, which took off on January 28 on a set erected in Film City in Mumbai,is based on Kashinath Singh’s book Kashi Ka Assi about a teacher who fights hard for the principles he believes in. “Once I was sure I could do justice to the part,I accepted the film,” said Sunny.

The director, who has earlier made Pinjar, said that Sunny was apt for the part because his character has to reflect sincerity and goodness, which Sunny can carry off very well. “When Sunny does a makeover he does it physically and mentally. Otherwise too,he is an interesting actor with a huge fan-base in the North, where the film is based” added the director.

Mohalla Assi is a famous ghat in Kashi which is the first destination of every visitor to the city. There is also a tea-shop at a crossing there where the common man’s issues are discussed, revealed Dwivedi.

The other actors in the film include Saurabh Shukla,Ravi Kissen,Mukesh Tiwari. The second schedule will be in Varanasi in March and the film is scheduled to release some time later this year.
