Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday said India reserved the right to take military action if its territory was under threat.

"I am neither making any comment on military options. What I am saying is every sovereign country has its right to protect its territorial integrity and take appropriate action as and when it feels necessary," Mukherjee told a TV channel.

Pranab said that it would be difficult to carry on in peace process with Pakistan started in 2004 unless Islamabad took action after the deadly attacks on Mumbai.

"We have no intention of not carrying out the peace process," Pranab Mukherjee said.

"If these incidents are not adequately addressed by the other side, it becomes difficult to carry out business as usual and that includes the peace process."

War is inevitableBy: Rams | 05-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward India should prepare itself and ensure its armed forces are prepared for all eventualities of any kind.Secondly, People should be educated to vote for an educated team of politicians who will serve and protect the people. Why do we indians wait for a specific signal in everything and why do our politicians refuse to read the signals from Pak, who are just biding time to take a bite, time and again.Chennai
Pranab's Remark on India's Rights.By: SANJIB KUMAR DASH, ADVOCATE | 04-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward It is hightime for UPA to show some productivity on security issues and not to allow it's constituent politicians to flash false hoods through press speaches. The fruitful instant actions in retaliation to the terror attacks on this soil will certainly be accounted for by the citizens in the forthcomming Gen Elections. The time is ripe now to win the hearts of all the community people both majority and minority, who have equally suffered in Mumbai and elsewhere inside the country.
Terrorists want war, civilised people do'nt.By: DHARAMNAL | 02-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward War mongers commenting on this section either need a brain or schooling, because if India states it is going to war, then Pakistan is bound to withdraw its forces from the Afghanistani front, and that will be a disaster against the war on terror. The idea of the terrorists is, that we should go to war, because it will help their cause by spilitting people, some will take the Hindu side and some will take the Muslim side, and by useing religion they would suceed. On the contrary India, Pakistan, China, America, Russia, European Union etc. should join hands to crush terrorism in a combined effort. If we leave it to the gossip mongers, who are making pro war statements, then we Indian will be daily fighting against each and every country whom we do not like.
Coward Leaders of India VS Terrorist PakistanBy: raju | 02-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Indian will never use military power against Pakistan as no political leader UPA or NDA has that guts to stand against Pakistan! While that Indian leaders are having tons of security people arround them, they have left the common man to die on the streets. It is now for the people of India to put a side these bunch of cowards and bring in new blood with guts.
We have oneBy: ravi | 02-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward No, we have Narendra Modi! He can finsish Pakistan if he comes to power in Delhi.
War is for sure...By: rajus friend | 02-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward I feel this time there will be war and that too India will strike with US and Isreal backing full support. Rice vist is just a step towards it
