India will participate in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit slated to take place in mid-July in Egypt.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to attend the summit on July 15 and 16 at Sharm-el Sheikh although a final decision on this will be taken later this month.
Meanwhile,the work allocation of the two Ministers of State (MoS) in the MEA has taken place,said Ministry sources.
MoS External Affairs Shashi Tharoor will be handling the
Gulf countries,which has a large Indian expatriate population. Tharoor also gets to handle the divisions of West Asia and North Africa; Latin America and the Caribbean; East and Southern Africa; West Africa; consular,passport and visa; Special Kuwait cell; and policy planning and research.
Kaur will look after the divisions of Eurasia; Europe (west); France; Germany; the United Kingdom; central Europe; East Asia (except China and Japan); protocol; administration; and coordination.
The allocation of work to Kaur and Tharoor is on similar lines as was followed by the previous government when the work was divided between Anand Sharma and E Ahamed.
