The Armed Forces Tribunal has set aside a court of inquiry against a serving Lt Gen after terming the proceedings as ‘illegal’. The inquiry was being conducted against Lt Gen G S Dhillon, commandant of the Army Services Corps School, for alleged irregularities in registration of transport companies for defence contracts. After Dhillon approached the Kochi Bench of the tribunal,he was granted relief with the authority noting that the presiding officer,Maj Gen P S Paul, was ‘chosen with ulterior motives’ and that “Malafides loom large from the action of respondents (Army)”.
