Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) claimed to have arrested seven suspected Maoists one of them has a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Kanpur on Monday.
The STF raided a CPI (Maoist) meeting at Naubasta in Kanpur and arrested Balraj,51,a resident of Ekma in Bihar and a politburo member of the banned outfit; Shivraj Singh alias Arjun, 66, of Almora in Uttarakhand; Chintan alias Banshidhar Singh alias Marx alias Osho,64,of East Champaran in Bihar;Naveen Prasad Singh alias Ashok of Patna; Ambrish,40,of Banka in Bihar,Deepak,24,of Samastipur in Bihar; Rajendra Kumar Phulara,33,of Almora in Uttarakhand and Kripa Shanker alias Manoj,35,of Kushinagar in UP.
DGP Karamvir Singh said Balraj,who was also secretary of the partys Northern Regional Bureau,had confessed he had been in regular contact with Kobad Gandhi before the latter was arrested in Delhi on September 21,2009.
Chintan revealed that he had a Phd from JNU and was a partys central committee member. He said he was soon to be nominated head of Uttar Bihar,Uttar Pradesh,Uttarakhand Special Area Committee (USAC). Naveen was coordinator of Mazdoor Sangharsh Sabha while Ambrish was a member of the partys UP Organising Committee. Kripa Shanker was USACs technical expert.
The DGP said they learned about the meeting during the interrogation of CPI(Maoist) members Asha,Seema Azad and Vishwavijay Azad,who were recently held in Gorakhpur and Allahabad.
