Ahead of the Air Indias board meeting on Tuesday, the airline has made some changes in its senior level management structure. K M Unni, the airlines SBU- head (MRO- airframe) has been given the additional charge of acting as COO (chief operating officer) of the airline, sources said.
This comes after Air Indias chief operating officer Captain Gustav Baldauf was asked to resign last month after he passed negative comments against the governments functioning of the airline.
After his exit,Baldaufs executive assistant Satish Modh, head of the companys avionics unit, was transferred to Agartala.
Most of our top guys are under pressure, an airline source said.
Unnis appointment comes at a time, when the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) has put up banners at Mumbai and Delhi airports, informing passengers about the associations impending strike call on March 15.
The pilots association is meeting with the chief labour commissioner in Delhi on Tuesday to sort out wage matters.
Last week,on March 9,the meeting between the management and the Indian Commercial Pilots Association went on till 11.30 pm and the airline union deferred a strike call by a week after the intervention of the minister.
We are only meeting the labour commissioner on Tuesday, not the management. Since the last meeting, there has been little progress, a Indian Commercial Pilots Association member said.
