    Mohammad Ajmal Mohammad Amin Kasab, the only terrorist to have been arrested in connection with the three-day terror attack, shot dead Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Mumbai police sources said.

    They said Kasab, a Pakistani national who was remanded to police custody till December 11, also killed encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar and Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte.

    The sources said ten terrorists had arrived in the city for the first time on the night of Wednesday using the sea route and then dispersed in pairs to the targeted locations.

    The terrorists allegedly took taxis to their assigned locations and paid in Indian currency. "Each terrorist was carrying Rs 6,200 with them," a senior police official said.

    Kasab was arrested on the night of Wednesday after his partner, whose identity is stated to be Ismail Khan, was shot dead by the police at Girgaum Chowpatty locality in South Mumbai.

    Kasab and his partner had first opened fire at CST railway station and then proceeded to Cama hospital and G T Hospital, a senior police official said.

    Kasab has allegedly revealed that their plan was to take hostages at the Taj hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Nariman House and then use them to escape from the city, he added.

    He said the Indian financial capital was chosen keeping in mind the worldwide impact it would have.

    Set an exampleBy: Poonam | 01-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Terrorists should not be killed in encounters but tortured mercilessly and made to beg for death. Human rights are for humans not vermin and scum. Hanging is a very quick and easy form of execution for these vermin. Its no satisfaction to the victims families if he is dispatched quickly. It does not matter if he has given all the information being sought he must continue to be tortured brutally.

Why so delay in the execution of Afzal Guru? He should be hanged immediately which would be a message to these terrorists organizations that India will not tolerate these acts.As per me all these terrorists should be set free after cutting off their hands and legs for them to realize till their death of what they have done and how they deserve to live their life.Ajmal Asib Kasab must be treated as mentioned above once all due investigations will be done, this is necessary to set examples.....

May their sacrifice be remembered by every Indian. Terrorists doesn’t have any religion. There is no some thing called Islamic/Muslim terrorists or Hindu terrorism. They only have one religion and its called terrorism. Here we have to suspect so many elements. Our politicians whether it be Congress with their minority pleasing policies or BJP with their Hindutva cards are just using the religious sentiments of general public keeping in mind how each incidents can be used to convert it into vote in their favour. Apart from blaming the UPA for their soft approach on terrorists can’t we suspect the role of BJP the Mumbai attack. Continued.....
    It was better that....By: Mohan | 29-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward He was true patriot, an hero for the nation!, but it is better that he was died in the hands of a foreign bullet, instead of dying from our own bullet; I think it is gods decision that he should die in the hands of foreign bullet; as we know as the head of the ATS team, he was getting threat calls; if not by Pakistan terrorist, definitely he would have been killed by local terrorist for heading the ATS. But his death was unavoidable.
