Kerala parties united on dam row,call for calm

An all-party meeting held on Tuesday to discuss the Mullaperiyar issue called for restraint on the part of the public against the backdrop of violence in border towns of Idukki district. Tuesday night witnessed stray incidents of attack on vehicles at Cumbum in Tamil Nadu and Kumily and Kattappana in Kerala.

CM Oommen Chandy said provocations would spoil the present conducive situation for discussion between the two states. However,the meeting decided to stay united on Keralas demands.

The CM said corrective steps would be taken to clear the confusion created by the affidavit of the AG in the HC. Government-appointed dam cell chairman repeated the AGs contention while deposing before HC.
