Seeking to turn the tables on Union Home Minister P Chidambaram amid his letter war with West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on the existence of armed CPM cadres in the state which he referred as harmads Left leaders on Thursday met him and provided evidence of what it called a nexus that existed between UPA constituent Trinamool Congress and the Maoists. They asked him to spell out how he proposed to deal with the Trinamool-Maoist nexus, saying that the responsibility of overcoming Maoist violence is not the states alone.

Significantly, the Left parties handed over to Chidambaram excerpts from a book written by Trinamool Congress MP Kabir Suman wherein he talks about a meeting held in Trinamool headquarters in Kolkata in which Union Minister Saugata Roy was present and so were two individuals presently in custody after being booked for their reported links with the Maoists.
