Legalising gay sex came in for sharp criticism in Rajya Sabha on Friday, with a Samajwadi Party member saying that this will destroy the Indian culture and established tradition and values.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour,Ram Gopal Yadav said the Delhi High Court ruling legalising gay sex should be challenged by the Centre in the Supreme Court.
“If you do not appeal in the Supreme Court, the old people in the country will have a miserable life,” he said.
Concerned over the alleged glamorisation of the issue,Yadav quoted a television channel which coined the usage “Gay ho” in place of “Jai ho”.
“Where are you taking the country. If this goes on,our culture will crumble”,Yadav said. He was supported by several other members.
Legalising gay sex has implications for other acts like marriage act and succession act,the SP member said.
