MCD Standing Committee chairperson,deputy retain posts

Dev Nagar councillor Yogender Chandolia was re-elected as chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi unopposed for another term during a special meeting of the panel held on Monday.

Dev Nagar councillor Yogender Chandolia was re-elected as chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) unopposed for another term during a special meeting of the panel held on Monday.

Sarita Chaudhary was elected unanimously as deputy chairperson of the committee. Chaudhary represents Sangam Vihar (East).

After the elections,Leader of House Subhash Arya said after the analysis of Chandolia’s performance in the last year,the civic body decided to re-elect him.

“He performed well,hence he has been given another term as the chairman of the Standing Committee. A few projects started in the last 12 months are still to be completed. The party wanted experienced persons in the office so that the projects could be completed efficiently. Hence,Chandolia and Chaudhary have been given an opportunity to serve the people of Delhi,” Arya he.

Addressing party workers,Chandolia thanked them for choosing him for another term as chairman and said he would try his best to deliver.

“The party has once again given me a big responsibility. I assure you that I will continue to work proficiently as I had been doing. With the second term in the office,expectations of the people of Delhi from me have certainly increased,” he said.

Chandolia added that the MCD would put pressure on the Delhi government to notify the resolution passed by the Standing Committee in January to start sanctioning of floor-wise building plans.

“We will ask the government to incorporate the list of 307 roads in the Masterplan to shield people from sealing. I also assure you that we will work for betterment of the city in coordination with the Opposition,” said the BJP leader.

Chaudhary also thanked the party high command and supporters for electing her for the second term.

While conveying his wishes,Leader of the Opposition Jai Kishan Sharma pledged to cooperate with the ruling party in the projects and works related to the development of the Capital.

Chandolia and Chaudhary also visited the party headquarters at Pandit Pant Marg to meet senior party leaders,including Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party chief Vijender Gupta.
