To improve the sanitation services in the city,Leader of the House in the MCD,Subhash Arya,on Tuesday informed that an allocation of Rs 27.20 crore has been made for improvement of sanitation services this year. He said the drive will continue upto June 19 and the funds will be spent in cleaning all wards of the city within that period. The ongoing drive was kick started last month.
An amount of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to each of the 272 councillor for sanitation purpose, Arya said.
He said that councillors have been requested to make use of the allocation to improve sanitation services in their wards during the on-going drive. After June 19,the MCD will take stock of the condition and spend more fund if required.
Arya said an amount of Rs.10 lakh per ward is made. He added that the allocation can be spent in unauthorised colonies also. Each councillor can use this amount on various sanitation services including hiring of trucks,tippers,loaders,etc. He has appealed the councillors to ensure that with fresh allocation,their ward is made free of garbage and malba. He asked the councillors to involve RWAs,traders associations,market federations,etc.
