Mahila SEWA Trust to start community radio station

The Ahmedabad-based Mahila Self Employed Women Association (SEWA) Trust will soon start its own Community Radio Station (CRS).

The CRS is being introduced after the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting signed a Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing,maintaining and operating a radio station with the trust.

The Letter of Intent had been issued after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various ministries. The CRS,which will be the 49th in the country,is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. The trust aims to use the facility to provide different information to people,especially women,in nearby villages.
