Manmohan calls on President

In the backdrop of talk of an impending Cabinet reshuffle,Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called on President Pratibha Patil on Friday.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said issues relating to the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament and current political situation was discussed in the meeting that lasted for about 45 minutes. The meeting sparked speculation in political circles on possible dates being discussed for the impending Cabinet reshuffle,but the spokesperson declined to say if the subject came up during the discussions.

The meeting comes two days after the Prime Minister told a group of editors that a Cabinet reshuffle was in the offing,saying it was work in progress. The President is leaving for Hyderabad on Saturday on a weeklong visit and will be back on July 8.
