Manmohan hosts dinner for Sarkozy,Sonia also attends

PM Manmohan Singh hosted a private dinner for French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday night hosted a private dinner for French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni at his residence.

Apart from Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur,the guest list included UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi,Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and some of the senior Cabinet ministers.

During the official talks on Monday,Sarkozy is expected to raise issues relating to the civil nuclear liability legislation on which the French government has certain reservations.

Apart from civil nuclear cooperation,the two leaders are likely to discuss a range of issues,including terrorism,defence cooperation and UN reforms. Agreements in the fields of civil nuclear cooperation,space and joint film production are expected to be signed at Hyderabad House. Sarkozy is accompanied by six ministers and they have been busy interacting with business leaders in different cities,including Kolkata,Bangalore,Mumbai. The French ministers have also been opening renovated consulates in these cities,and another one in Pondicherry as well.
