Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Raksha Shakti University (RSU) at Meghaninagar in Ahmedabad on Thursday morning even as the news of his confidant and Home Minister Amit Shah being summoned by the CBI reached the programme venue.

As news spread, many left the venue. Shah, whose name did not figure in the invitation card, was predictably absent in the function.

Modi kept to the brief, highlighting the features of the proposed university and making no political statement on the occasion.

“The university will set an example of excellence in police training and become a need for other states to send their candidates for academic police training,” he said.

Additional Director of RSU O P Mathur said,“At present, the condition of internal security is very serious. This is the first university established in the country that would develop a force to fight against terrorism.”

The university will offer courses in internal security, organized crimes, cyber crime, economic offences and juvenile crimes. The students would be trained in advance techniques of crime detection with the high-end facilities developed in the university for them. The main campus at Dahegam is still under construction.
