The BJP on Wednesday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had conveyed to the SIT that he was willing to appear before it at a mutually convenient date.

There have been reports of communication between the Gujarat Chief Minister and the SIT and the BJP on Wednesday made it clear that Modi was not evading appearance before the Supreme Court-appointed panel. In an open letter issued a couple of days ago,Modi had said he had not received any summons to appear before the SIT on Sunday, even as other BJP leaders had stressed that there was a difference between a notice and summons.

As far as I understand,it has been conveyed by Mr Modi to the SIT that he would appear before the SIT at a mutually convenient date. He has also reminded the SIT about the May 5 Supreme Court hearing, said BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad in response to a question here.
