Vishav Guru Ravidass Mission,a non-governmental organisation protested against the Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday, for not providing adequate medical facilities at the civil hospital, primary health centres and dispensaries.

The protest march, which began from the civil hospital, concluded at the Mini Secretariat and was led by NGO president Shiv Ram Saroy. He said,“There are no proper facilities in the civil hospital and dispensaries for patients suffering from kidney diseases or mental ailments. There are no facilities of CT Scan,MRI,dialysis and so on. The poor patients have to visit the so-called charitable hospitals.”

The NGO members, along with patients, demanded that there should be a modern burn unit,a separate pediatric ward and facility for dialysis at the civil hospital only. Saroy said some of the health centres did not even have first aid kits,. He said,“The charitable hospital are just in the name. They have been turned into commercial units,as the Health Department has no control over them.”

The NGO also gave a memorandum to the Health and Family Welfare Department through Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari.
