Pakistan teenager Naseer Sultan left for Pakistan on Friday, still nurturing his dream of meeting filmstar Shah Rukh Khan one day, the reason he had illegally crossed the border in the first place.

Clad in a blue jeans and green sweater, the 15-year-old waved enthusiastically at the Indian crowd at the Wagah border. “I came over to meet Shah Rukh Khan but landed in jail. I am disappointed at not having met him, but will return to India one day with proper documents to meet the star,” he said before crossing the border, where his father Zarin Sultan was waiting for him.

“I am lucky that I did not face trouble here; the Indian authorities were helpful. My message for the other boys is that they should not venture out of home like me,” said Naseer, who was brought here from the juvenile home in Faridkot where he had been lodged for over three months. A resident of Dir village in North West Frontier Province, Naseer had left home for school, but instead took a bus to Lahore, and then to Kasur to enter India illegally on August 16. He was apprehended by the BSF jawans and later arrested. “The first thing I will do on meeting my family is to seek their forgiveness for my misadventure. Also, my Matriculation examinations are around the corner, so I will concentrate on studies,” said Naseer.

“I will request the authorities that the other boys lodged in Indian jails, including Sunil, also be released,” he said, who took back clothes, sweets, chocolates and video CDs of Shah Rukh’s films as gifts from India.
