Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has alleged that Anti-Terrorism Squad has tortured her in the custody.

The Pune cyber cell officer on Tuesday received a call from an unknown caller who issued death threat to Mumbai's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, TV channels reported.

Meanwhile, the NHRC has sought a report from the Maharashtra government on alleged custodial torture of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, who was arrested in connection with Malegaon blast.

The Commission sent notice to Maharashtra Chief Secretary Johny Joseph and Director General of Police A N Roy on Monday following a complaint about the alleged violation of human rights during the ATS custody of the accused and directed them to submit a factual report on it.

The Commission asked the officials to submit the report within two weeks, NHRC sources said.

38-year-old former ABVP activist Pragya was arrested by the Maharashtra ATS on October 23 for allegedly conspiring of exploding a bomb at Malegaon on September 29 in which six persons were killed and 101 others injured.

Thakur on Monday told Special MCOCA Judge Y D Shinde that she had been mentally and physically harassed by ATS.

"ATS officials threatened to strip me and hang me upside down if I did not confess about my involvement in the blast. I am mentally disturbed and not able to eat anything," Sadhvi told the judge.

Diversion created by BJPBy: Kalyug | 29-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward And now the officers have paid the price with their lives. Hence the families have declined the offer from Modi. Modi the mastermind of these incidents will go in the books of history as the man behind Bombay. Mind it the Governments help one another for their personal gains. By now all the perpetrators of the Malegaon case would have been caught. Why would the Mumbai terrorists open fire on everyone i the Train station. There are people of all faiths travelling, working and commuting. Chaos is the key, kill anyone and take the attention away from Pragya case

Terrorist and hatefuls have no religion?By: najam Sahi | 26-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward It is very sad that, some politicians and religious extremists are simply exploiting the ATS actions and hampering the process of justice. Whenever any muslim is charged of terrorism they try to profile entire muslim community as terrorists. Terrorists, hatefuls and criminals have no any religious loyalty. Who had killed Mahatma Gandhi and Sanjev Gandhi? Were they Muslims? We have terrorists, extremists and criminals born into all the religions? What was the religion of Raanwarhn and his coteries who had abducted Seeta and waged war against our most beloved and great Raam? For God sake let the course of justice proceed and do not ignite the fire of communal hatred and religious divide, as usual, for your dirty politices. Finally who suffers? Our most beloved India and the peace loving people of this great lovely Country. Terrorists, extremists and hatefuls from whatever religion, race or place, are the worst cancer for peace of mankind and roots of all the evils?
