No HC relief for Tips,Yamla Pagla Deewana

Granting no relief to Tips Industries Limited that had sought a restraint on the telecast of the film Yamla Pagla Deewana on television

Granting no relief to Tips Industries Limited (TIL) that had sought a restraint on the telecast of the film Yamla Pagla Deewana on television, the Bombay High Court on Friday asked the music record company to amend its petition and add the necessary respondents.

TIL had claimed that three songs in the film that it held the copyright to,were used without its permission and sought Rs 1crore damages from the film’s producers Top Angle Production and One Up Entertainment Private Limited.

They had asked the court to restrain the producers from airing the film on Sony Television on Saturday. The court was, however, informed that the channel had not been made party to the petition and therefore the petition required to be amended. The court, therefore, asked TIL to join the necessary parties and pursue its suit for damages before the court. The movie, however, will be aired on television on Saturday.
