Not well,lost over 10 kg in jail: Vora

Jigna Vora,arrested for her alleged role in the murder of Mid-Day reporter J Dey,and her lawyers claimed on Monday that she had been unwell in jail and had lost weight drastically.

Vora,who has asthma,claimed that she has lost over 10 kg in the past four months,attributing it to a series of complications since her arrest. Conditions in the jail are not too good. And with my health complications,it has just worsened, Vora,who was present in the court for a hearing on Monday,told Newsline. She and the 10 other accused were sent to judicial custody till March 29.

Vora,who has been suffering from asthma since her college days,said she was finding it difficult to cope with the fluctuating weather and has been on medication. It has taken a toll on my health. I have undergone a series of tests…lost count of it, she said.

She had,on November 25 when she was first produced before the court after her arrest,moved an application seeking access to an asthma inhaler. Even the basic availability of hot water was a struggle, she said.

Vora has been provided hot water in the jail after she made an application through her lawyer.

Vora,deputy chief of bureau, Asian Age,was arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on charges of providing the licence plate number of the motorcycle and address of the slain journalist to Rajan.
