Pledging to take the economy forward, President Barack Obama launched his re-election bid with back-to-back rallies in key swing states of Ohio and Virginia, where he attacked Mitt Romney for learning "wrong lessons" from his experiences as a top business executive.
Addressing the impressive rallies in both Columbus in Ohio and Richmond in Virginia late Saturday, Obama said "his agenda of change" though it has accomplished a lot, is yet to reach its destination and thus he needs another chance."
Hitting hard at Romney, his presumptive Republican rival, Obama said Americans cannot afford to give him a chance, alleging that Republicans' agenda was on steroids.
The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady Michelle Obama, at both the rallies, claimed that Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, stands for trickle-down economics and would "rubber-stamp" the economic proposals of the Republicans in Congress.
Romney, a successful investor and business executive, has drawn "the wrong lessons from those experiences," Obama said. In Richmond, the President said: "We have got to move forward to that future where everyone gets a fair shot, and everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules." Romney "doesn't seem to understand that maximising profits by whatever means necessary, whether it's through layoffs or outsourcing or tax avoidance, union busting, might not always be good for the average American or for the American economy,'' the president said.
