Pak spy tried to cultivate naval officer as source: Police

Seeking his custody,the Crime Branch told the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday that he was found in possession of some documents,including confidential Military Intelligence documents,of sensitive installations from the city. According to the police,Mozawala has not divulged the source of the documents.

“It’s only now that we have found out that Mozawala was commissioned to hand over these documents to someone else. We would need his custody to track other accused,” investigating officer Ajit Sawant told the court. However,Mozawala’s lawyer Mubin Solkar argued that the police were merely reiterating the same grounds that they had mentioned during his first production too.

Solkar,who was allowed to privately meet Mozawala in the court,moved an application saying his client had been “brutally tortured by the police”. However,Mozawala denied this in court. He was remanded in police custody till December 22 by the court.
