  • Fifteen people, including a company commander of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were booked for faking polls fearing Naxal violence in Dantewara district of Chhattisgarh.

The polling party was supposed to go to Gogunda polling booth under the Konta Assembly constituency in Dantewada district for re-polling on November 24.

Instead of going to the polling booth, the personnel “faked voting” mid-way as they feared Naxal violence at the polling booth, Returning Officer, Konta Assembly constituency, Rajat Kumar said.

Taking cognisance of the matter, the district electoral officer (DEO) ordered registering of an FIR against all of them, he said.

Eight of them are government officials, including a company commander of the CRPF, while seven are workers of various political parties, who were accompanying the polling officials as polling agents.

Cases have been registered against them under various sections of the Representation of the People’s Act and IPC.
