It has been nine long years since the first Harry Potter movie hit screens across the world but the enthusiasm just refuses to die down. This time around,Harry Potter has kept his fans waiting for almost two years.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which released on Thursday,is the penultimate in the popular seven-novel Harry Potter series by British author J K Rowling. While the entire world is going gaga,Chandigarh residents are also not aloof of the Pottermania. Despite being a weekday, all shows of the movie across cinema theatres were booked on the first day itself.
A few students bunked their schools and tuitions to claim the fame of having been the first to catch the flick. The movie is also said to have made record-breaking sales worldwide.
Aman Sohi,a BCom student, said: I have read all the books and have been waiting for this part of the series. As a summer release,it provides everything you want in a Harry Potter movie. The director has created a stunning film.
Set during Harry Potters sixth year at Hogwarts, the novel explores Lord Voldemorts past and Harrys preparations for the final battle amid emerging romantic relationships and the emotional confusion and conflict resolutions.
Another self-confessed diehard Harry Potter fan,Sanjana, termed the film a pure entertainer. I enjoyed my two-and-a-half hours to the most with popcorn and cold drinks. I was eagerly looking forward to its release and Emma Watson is now my favourite actress.
The overall response was that Daniel Radcliffe,Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who have played their respective characters for almost half of their lives, did not disappoint this summer.
A Class VIII student,Nandita, said,Im a huge Harry Potter fan. I feel that I grow with him every year. I have read all the books in the series and loved the movies.
The young and old alike were seen at theatres to get their taste of Pottermania.
A viewer Amy Mann said,It was an excellent movie. In fact,it was better than the previous movies. I wish Bollywood could make something like this. It was very entertaining and Im going to buy the tickets for the next show as well.
There were, however,a fair share of critics in the audience as well. Engineering student Shilpa felt the movie was not up to the mark. The movie came after a gap of almost two years and there were a lot of expectations. The book was much better than the movie, she said.
Another cinema goer Sikander felt the film was not suited for young children with its dark themes and complex plots.
