President offers condolence to Kabul blast victims

President Pratibha Patil on Saturday offered tribute to the six Indians who were killed in the Taliban attack in Kabul.

President Pratibha Patil on Saturday offered tribute to the six Indians who were killed in the Taliban attack in Kabul. The president expressed her sympathies for the families of the dead when she was in the city to board a flight back to Delhi. She had gone to Sangli for a function via Pune.

The bodies of six Indians killed in the Taliban attack in Kabul were flown to the national capital on Saturday evening in a special aircraft. According to the Rashtrapati Bhavan release,the President returned from Pune and placed a wreath and spoke to the relatives of the victims. The injured were taken to the Army hospital. Ten people,including five Indian Army officers,were injured in the strike.

The six Indians whose bodies have been brought here have been identified as Major Dr Laishram Jyotin Singh of Army Medical Corps,Major Deepak Yadav of Army Education Corps,engineer Bhola Ram,tabla player Nawab Khan,staffer of Kandahar Consulate Nitish Chibber and ITBP constable Roshan Lal.
