Pune has become the third city to gain a World Series of Hockey (WSH) team,with WSH announcing on Friday that Sai Grace Sports & Events Private Limited (SGSEPL) will take over as the owner of the newly named Pune Strykers franchise. Chennai Cheetahs and Karnataka Lions are the two other franchises that have been finalised so far,out of the proposed eight.
“Pune has a glorious hockey legacy and we felt it was only fitting that the city fields a team in World Series Hockey,” said Manoj Choudhary,director of SGSEPL and promoter of Jewel Products,a Bombay-based corporate gifting company.
“We have always involved ourselves in sports and World Series Hockey provides an excellent platform to express our abiding interest in the game.”
