As 53-year-old Rajbala battles for life at GB Pant Hospital after sustaining injuries during the midnight operation at Ramlila maidan, police officials have said that as per the medico-legal report made at LNJP hospital, she was injured during the stampede.
While her family claims that Rajbala had told them that she was beaten by the police, police say that the MLC was made by the Cheif Medical Officer (CMO) on duty at LNJP as per Rajbalas statement.
According to Sudhir Yadav,Joint Commissioner of Police, northern range,The MLC issued in respect of Smt. Rajbala by CMO Dr. Lavkesh at 3.10 am,suggests that she was injured in the stampede at Ramlila ground at about 1.00 am as disclosed by her to the doctor.
A doctor at LNJP said on condition of anonymity,MLCs are made immediately after administering basic critical care to the patient. We had not done her investigations then, and were not aware of the precise nature of the spinal injury,so the reports are based on prima facie indications of the injury.
A neurologist at GB Pant Hospital however said, the impact of the injury is very grave,it appears as though she fell from a great height. But if she was stuck in the stampede for a very long time,it could also have resulted in the injury.
Meanwhile, five days after Rajbala was admitted to GB Pant Hospital, doctors said her condition had deteriorated at around 1 am on Friday with fluctuations in blood pressure and heart rate that had to be controlled by medicines. The evening bulletin however said that no major fluctuations had been noted during the day. The medical bulletin added that her vital parameters were being maintained with increased pharmacological support. Rajbala, has been on ventilator support since Sunday evening. Doctors however said her condition had dipped from being critical,to very critical.
