Rajnath,RSS chief discuss BJP’s future

BJP chief Rajnath Singh met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to discuss 'a host of issues' related to the party and its future.

BJP chief Rajnath Singh Wednesday met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to discuss “a host of issues” related to the party and its future.

Rajnath,whose term as party president ends this year,“discussed a host of issues related to the BJP’s future” with the RSS chief and,sources said,the talks were “positive”. A BJP leader said Rajnath “asked the RSS chief to help facilitate the transition process in the party”. He also claimed that the issue of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and L K Advani’s continuation in the post also figured in the talks which lasted for over an hour.

RSS joint general secretary Suresh Soni,who also attended the meeting,refused to say anything when reached for comments. Another RSS leader described it as a “routine meeting”.

The meeting was held amid reports of resentment in the BJP against Bhagwat’s remarks,made during an interview last week,that “none of the Delhi-based leaders would become the next party chief”.

However,BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar,who is considered a Rajnath loyalist,had on Tuesday said there was “no confusion,difference of opinion or anger” in the party against the statement.
