Ramachandra Dhere bags Punyabhushan award

Researcher Ramchandra Chintaman Dhere has been selected for the 22 nd Punyabhushan (Pride of Pune) award instituted by city-based ‘Tridal’.

Researcher Ramchandra Chintaman Dhere has been selected for the 22 nd Punyabhushan (Pride of Pune) award instituted by city-based ‘Tridal’.

Playwright Mahesh Elkunchwar will hand over the award in the presence of Kannada novelist S L Bhairappa at Balgandharva Rangmandir on Sunday.

The award carries a silver memento and cash worth Rs one lakh.

Dhere is known for his research on folk culture,ancient literature,literature of saints and sages etc.

A recipient of the Sahitya Academy award in 1989,Dhere was earlier awarded with many prestigious awards including the Maharashtra Gaurav award,Dnyanoba-Tukaram award andMaharashtraFoundation’s lifetime achievement award. Five freedom fighters – Vijaya Chitale,Chhagan Bagewadikar,ShantaKotecha,Bimalendu Sengupta and Lila Marchant will also be felicitated on the occasion. Symbiosis founder president S B Mujumdar,Raghunath Mashelkar,Shriram Lagoo,Baba Adhav,Rohini Bhate,K B Grant are some of the other recipients of the award.
