Organisers of the World Series of Hockey have said they are open to postponing the event by three months till after the Olympic Qualification tournament in New Delhi following Hockey India’s refusal to select those players in the Indian team who would participate in the proposed franchise-based league.
The WSH,which is a joint initiative of the Indian Hockey Federation and Nimbus Sport,is scheduled for the December 17-January 22 slot while the London qualifying event begins on February 15 and concludes on February 26.
As the Delhi High Court reserved its judgment on the PIL filed by Joachim Carvalho against HI,the counsel appearing for Nimbus told a Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw that in order to break the deadlock,they were willing to reschedule the tournament in March.
We are willing to take the window of March next year. If the HI is desirous of giving an undertaking that they would not be putting up any hurdle again in March and will not come up with anything new then,we are open to take a widow of 35-40 days,starting March 1, said the counsel.
