With an aim to meet the shortage of officers in the army, the government has approved the re-employment of Brigadiers who have retired from service in staff and instructional posts. The re-employment scheme will now give Brigadier rank officers in the army an opportunity to seek an extra term of two years, taking up their retirement age to 58.

At present, the Army is short of more than 200 officers of the rank of Brigadier.
