Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama has said there are indications of a power struggle in China because of a basic lack of trust between senior-most leaders in the Communist party. The leader, who has just come back from a tour of Tawang that was vehemently opposed by Beijing, said there were indications that even the top Communist leaders of the country were spying on each other.

They are using force everywhere, they are spying. Even among the top leaders, there are some stories, there are some indications that they themselves dont trust each other. There is some kind of a power struggle, the Dalai Lama said while answering questions after delivering a speech at the 15th Justice Sunanda Bhandare Memorial Lecture in the Capital.

On the recent China-US joint statement hinting at a greater role for Beijing in South Asia that has come under flak from New Delhi, the spiritual leader said he had always advocated that India had a major role to play in the region.

For many years, whenever I was in Washington or in European Union,I always said you must remember India too. Because historically, the size of India makes it very important. Plus,population-wise,its the greatest democratic country, he said.
