Talking about the importance of such an event,Lynn said,With such road shows,we aim to show our friends coming here from the US there is a lot more in India than just the metro cities like New Delhi and Mumbai. It is also a good reflection of the flowering people-to-people relationship between Indians and Americans that is an integral part of the US-India strategic partnership. Pune is one of the best places in the country to host such a show because of the strong students presence here. The show, which has also been organised in places like Raipur,Rajkot,Nashik and Indore will also be organised at Baroda after Pune.
The publisher of Ameya Publication,Ulhas Latkar said,These books help us come to terms with global diversity. They were chosen because their themes are in no way geographically restricted to USA. They are a manifestation of a growing inter-connectedness between not only Indians and Americans, but people of all nationalities.
Even students were happy at the concept of such a show. The books on display give us a deep understanding of the American culture and history. We are also eager to watch the movie screenings in the evenings, said Priya Shinde,a second year student.
The road show, which started today and will continue till July 10 will provide the city people a better understanding of US culture, values, life and society. An extensive display of over 1000 books on topics like American history, laws and literature have been put up at MMCC.Those interested will also have the opportunity to interact with speakers and experts from USA during seminars and lectures.
